THE MAASTRICHT UPPER AREA CONTROL CENTRE (UAC)

The Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre (UAC) is part of the EUROCONTROL Agency and is tasked with the provision of air traffic control (ATC) services to civil air traffic in the upper airspace over Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and the north-western part of Germany. Within the Maastricht UAC, the Operations Division is a large unit of some 425 staff responsible for providing the above-mentioned air traffic control service. The Personnel section in this Division has a requirement for a pre-tact manpower planning assistant.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be accountable to the Operations Manager in the Personnel Section. He/She will provide support to the short term planning of the operational staff in the Operations Room and be responsible, in particular, for the following tasks:
• filling the available slots with staff for the duties as laid down in the operational requirements;
assisting in finding solutions for the correct manning of the sector (e.g. during sickness absence);
• co-ordinating all changes to the roster with DR/MUAC which have an impact on shift allowances, leave entitlement, etc.;
• establishing an updated duty roster and recording and informing supervisors of changes;
• informing staff on planned activities outside the operations room;
• contributing to the correct application of all quality and safety aspects (e.g. length of working days, minimum interval between 2 shifts, etc.);
• performing any other task in line with the main purpose of the job as required by the Operations Manager Personnel.

REQUIRED PROFILE

• Higher secondary education or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of 3 years professional experience in an administrative function.
• Thorough knowledge and experience in the use of standard MS Office applications.
• Good organisation and planning skills with a proven ability to prioritise and use initiative appropriately. Accurate and detail oriented approach.
• Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to cope with pressure.
• The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular post, candidates must have a good command of English. Knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage.

Agency staff subject to the Staff Regulations governing officials, the General Conditions of Employment governing servants at the Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre, or the Conditions of Employment of Contract Staff are considered internal candidates. At the closing date of the notice of competition, internal candidates must have completed their probationary period.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• An initial selection will be made by a Selection Committee on the basis of the candidates’ qualifications and experience. Thereafter, those candidates considered suitable may be invited to assessment and interviews.
• The selected candidate will be offered a contract of three years. The contract may be renewed once for a fixed period of not more than three years. Before being confirmed in his/her post, the selected candidate will have to complete a probationary period of 9 months.
• The contract will be governed by the provisions of the “Conditions of Employment of Contract Staff at EUROCONTROL”. The generic post is: Clerical Assistant.
• This notice may be used for the recruitment of similar posts, for a period of one year following the establishment of the reserve list.
