Basic requirements
• Holder of CPL (A) license
• IR (A) rating
• ME (A) rating
• Passed ATPL (A) theory examinations conducted by the national aviation authority
• Passed MCC training (theory + practical)
• Valid JAR-FCL Class 1 medical certificate. No special diets included

Recruitment process

1. Application
• Candidates must submit their applications on a Blue1 recruitment form with all the required information attached

2. Preselection of applicants
• Flight experience
• Recent flight experience
• Types of aeroplanes flown
• Educational background
• Employment history and experiences
• Previous interviews with Blue1
• Aptitude evaluation results (if available)

3. Interview
• Interpersonal skills, characteristics and language skills

4. Testing
• Psychological evaluation and screening check flight (if applicable)

5. Selection committee meeting

• The selection committee decides on the working procedure for each round of recruitment. The members of the selection committee are the Head of Flight Operations, the Chief Pilots and Head of Crew Training

6. Selection

• The Head of Flight Operations makes final decision in recruitment
• The first selection of applicants is done by careful evaluation of applications. The following criteria are used in the selection:

The applicant should have received his/her basic flight training at a flight school that meets expectations for high standards and quality of training. Institute type training is preferred. Training records will be checked.

The Company requires that pilots have good skills in English and Finnish. For applicants from SAS Group companies good skills in Swedish, Danish or Norwegian can be accepted in lieu of Finnish. The requirement for all Company flight training is that the student is able to speak, write and understand English. Language skills should be tested during the recruitment.

Applicants must have had a psychological evaluation within three years. Blue1 must approve the organization conducting the testing.
